Normally you would need to wait about 14 days or so before you test to get an accurate reading. Some tests are more sensitive then others and would be able to detect a pregnancy before that. Every person is different so you might just want to wait until your period is late. I know I've wasted a lot of money on tests in the past because I was so anxious to find out and I tested too early.
